Thats a hell of a deal!!!:2thumbs:
Here is what I dont understand after trying both a 93/97 and a 98/99 wheel on my 1000 forks.
The 93/97 wheels have the same rotor spacing as a 1000 they fit right in the calipers. The 98/99 wheel has a wider rotor( same as busa) spacing and will not fit in 1000 forks with radial brakes.

I keep seeing people tell this guy to use a 98/99 wheel but I dont see how it is going to work with just a axle, the brake spacing wont work.

98/99 and 93/97 rotors are different and you can not interchange them

98/99 wheels work on busa
93/97 wheels work on 1000

What??.. Really?...
We are telling him what he needs to make this swap work. I just got done doing this swap and my 98/99 wheel fits perfect. I used a 98/99 wheel and rotor, stock brake caliper and custom axle and it came out perfect.

We have said the there is a difference between the 93/97 and 98/99 wheels and rotors. If he gets everything matched up like he should he should be fine. I personally would go the route i did if you have a 05/06 1k.:2thumbs:

I believe u need that axle and spacer. Im not real sure since its an 04 1k. Ask justin from two wheel werkz. He should kmow. He helped me out with my setup.:sorry:
slow racer are you trying to use both rotors?

when you use the 97 and older wheel you have to space the rotors out to line up with the 1000 calipers.
How much shorter of a tire can you run with the 16" cbr wheel over a 17" wheel ??

The lowest profile and smallest tire out now is 110x70x16. But i have noticed that i have a least an inch more clearance for me to go lower.

Most of the 16" tires available have a low speed rating right ?? any issues with that ??

If you are dragracing, probably not. Anything other than short high speed use, probably an issue.

Most of the tire speed rating is based on heat generation. Some is based on forces experienced by the tire at high RPM.

Give Dwayne at Cycle Concepts a call. He has experience with selling guys the right size rubber...(He has even put it on their equipment for some of them...talk about dedication!) :s21::beer::friends:
I will give him a shout. Thank you. I occosionally street ride it so better safe than sorry.

I have a 93 wheel and the rotors are spaced perfect with my calipers/forks. I bought a 98/99 wheel first and the rotor spacing was to wide for my forks/calipers. We took the 98/99 wheel and put it in busa forks and the spread was correct for it.

If I remeber correctly the spread difference between 1000 legs and busa's are about .500"

You got pics of your setup?
I have a couple on my phone without my upper on. I will try and post some later tonight.
There is a difference in the spacing between the 01/04 and the 05/06 model gsxr1000. That maybe why you are having the problem with the newer wheel swap.
