i need some feedback-advice for my new project.
i am building a 3x4 gsxr 1000 k7.
the project includes falicon knife rods, je pistons 13.5/1 ,yoshi's str typeR cams, ape's crank and flow tuned head.
So i wanted to ask what compression should i aim?
Shall i keep the oem head gasket?
i will need a thinner one?
or should i shave the head?(and if so how much?).
the project will be all motor.

If he is going all motor why won't it last long, I know the older cases are better for spray but I am curious myself as to why it wont last and its all motor...

The 07 case is lighter, thinner and weaker!
The 3mil bore makes the case even weaker, than you throw a 4 mil crank in the mix. The crank put the rods at a steeper angle, and that also puts more stress on the cylinder wall. The wall is now thinner because of the 3mil. The combination will work, but like I said it won't last.

But, That is just my thoughts. Everyone has their own opinion. I've done that combo, and it didn't last long at all. I'm just passing on my experience, and the money I wasted.

I can get you some clean 03-04 cases if you want for $350 just let me know. Like everyone said do not use those 07-08 cases if you have intentions of ever spraying. Trust me I know. :2thumbs:

the cases are from 01-02.
my intention is to be an all motor, no spray at all.
But i dont know what to do with the compression. What number should i aim and how?with thinner head gasket or shaving the head?(and how much?).

Couple things might affect how much comp someone will recommend you run besides whether or not your gonna spray it. Will you be riding it on the street? Longevity expectations? Fuel you want to be able to run. And prob bunch of other stuff.

the 01-02 cases and 03-04 cases are the same thickness correct?

NO...01-02 have no windage tunnel making them the strongest case Suzuki ever made for the newer gsxr's and the 03-04's started with the windage tunnels but were small and they still had fair amount of webbing in the lower case making them some what strong there too. As the case got newer like 05 and up they made the windage tunnel bigger and less webbing down low making the case weaker but lighter and the reason for the tunnel was better cylinder pressure and cooling that resulted in more power but worst for building HP.

exactly what ray said, those engines progressivly got larger windage reliefs in the cases to cut pumping losses resulting in better hp and weaker cases in the main bearing area. 03-04 was also increased over 01-02, 01-02 that u are using are the best for your purpose.

yes but what i want is little feedback about the compression..... i am a little bit confused for what i must do.Shaving the head?Use the stock thickness head gasket(of course bored 3mil) or a thinner one?
thats my concern.

In my opinion You wil have extra power only thanks to bigger displacement.Leave stock gasket and dont shave head.It better to have some reserve for valve to piston clearance. You won't win lots of HP thanks to thinner gasket, but you can seriously damage engine.

Go with the stock head gasket, shave the head .020. Using the stock head gasket rather then a thinner one and shaving the head to gain compression will keep your piston to head clearance ("squish or quench" depending were your from) which will help to not beat the rod bearings to death. Use case and head studs (girdle doesn't hurt either) and make sure everything is torqued exactly.

you will be fine with the 07/08 cases. My personal bike is a 3x4 and I've hurt everything but the cases pushing it as hard as I can, also have a turbo 08 pushing 22lbs and has held up great, main thing is make damn sure everything is clearanced right and torqued right, always triple check.

Everybody will have different opinions but Ray C & Chuckles05 both OWN & build 3x4's. Their knowledge is worth a lil more than the rest of us throwing a few opinions around. I'm sorry if I for got anyone else that has a 1143 under them

Since you are in Greece, PM either of them & I'm sure they will try to help. I know Ray C has helped me a ton with my lil project :2thumbs:
