OLD SCHOOLS ARE HARD TO MAKE INTO GRUDGE BIKES DUE TO THEIR WEIGHT. TYPICALY YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE UP ALOT OF WEIGHT TO THE NEWER 1K'S AND BUSA'S. WE'VE GOT A GUTTED WC 1100 AND IT STILL WEIGHS ALOMOST 500LBS.

BUT IF YOU PUT ENOUGH DOPE ON THEM THEY CAN MOVE......:2thumbs:

Spray for Spray you could grudge race an oil cooled or watercooled GSXR all day long against the newer 1000's that are fully grudged out...but I don't think an ol' skool could keep up with a slick and slider Busa on spray or all motor. The most horsepower you could hope for with an oil cooled GSXR on motor is in the 215-230 range and that's with a BIG $$$ head on it and at least a 5mm stroker. All though you would be at 1500cc's or more to make that power the newer 1000's make about the same power on motor in full grudge trim.Grudge Busa's can make 280+horsepower in all motor trim so you would be heavier and make way less power.Ol' skool's can be made to fly but I think honestly the better choice for match ups would leave you running against the 1000's. Joe Long was going 7.40's a few years back on an oilcooled GSXR in outlaw trim(same as a grudge bike) so it's for sure possible to make em fly.

The 86 frame is supposed to be quite a bit lighter than the newer oil cooled frames, Im thinking 430 may be possible on all motor. Afriends 88 slingshot weighs in at 470 and its pretty much loaded w heavy wheels and full nitrous set up, both front brakes and a 92 heavy headlight. Dont sleep though you can get those bikes to sixty foot right there w a pst bike. Would be interesting to c a full on new tech grudge 86 build. How long you want to go?

Good deal. Guys that were running these things have all but abandoned them for the newer stuff so you can get some CRACKHEAD deals on parts for them...I will say this,If your making serious power Id recommend putting a BRAND new crank in it.High mileage cranks are known to break in these things if subjected to any kind of racing abuse. Also an often overlooked aspect of these is the tranny.Give R&D or Robinson a call and get yourself a good tranny.Stock 1100 trannys don't deal well with traction and high horsepower. You will have shifting issues or worse yet broken gears if you don't adress the issue before hand.

I don't know how much my Oil Cool weight, but I'll give a 1000 or a Busa hell! I have a under cut tranny for a Oil Cool if you need one. Because if you going to apply any type of power to these bikes your tranny go to be able to handle it.
