Long story short a friend of mine broke a chain about a month ago on his busa. He didn't wanna grow thru the trouble of pulling the motor to fix the seal. Is there any way that works to put it in from the outside. I've searched on some other forums about it and most post are old and it doesn't elaborate on it too much. Just curious if anyone has ever put one in from the outside with out it leaking. Thanks

Haven't done it in awhile, but you can replace it from the outsied. Not th emost elegant way to do it, but never had one leak. You need to dremel the lip in the cases away on the outside, then install the seal with an rtv sealer around the ouside. The rtv basically holds it in place where the case in lip did before.

well yeah this is the only way. I know a guy that did it. But you haft to dremel alot away. the rubber seal has a hard round back so you got to make that hole pretty big. Just do yourself a favor and do it right. my man dremel the case too big and ended up paying me to replace the whole engine cases because it leaked worst.

Not to mention if you ever sell the bike and someone see that........... or if you part the bike them cases are junk. its not that bad i could replace it in a good nite work. chanced are by the time you dremel away everything you could have had the motor on the bench.

I've found Noone can afford to do it right but Everyone an afford to do it Twice:biglaugha:
Goodluck

This would work. but i'm willing to bet the only reason his is leaking is because they tried to get the broken pushes out with a pair of needle nose's instead of taking the clutch cover off and pushing it out the other side.

am i right? Thats the deal most of the time

I pulled the entire clutch side off. Pushed it threw with a piece of tig wire. I'm guessing when it snapped it, it put a strain on the seal. I'll prob end up dropping the motor. I've never had to replace one before and have heard of some people having good luck with it from the outside. Just my luck it would leak again then i'd have to drop it anyways. Thanks guys.
