Katana cranks have a helical clutch gear. You will need a Katana basket also to use that crank.

Checked spare crank again,
it has straight cut gears,
owner thought it was a kanatuna crank. not.
It came out of a spare motor # V710-1225xx,
it also had three good Cosworth pistons, don't know what size yet.

Haven't measured anything yet.
Still need block to do anything.
Also need rods.
I'm thinking the pistons might be useable.

What I really need is a stock block
and a set of rods.
Had stock rods and really don't see the need for something expensive as we are not running 30lbs of boost.
This is a street bike and never sees the track.

Brian at Win racing suggested Joe Peters but don't know how to get a hold of him.

I've ran stock rods over 375hp for years and never had a problem. I would still get some h beams and 1185 turbo pistons, turbo cams, busa 10mm arp studs, dick speeds oil relief valves, good valve springs, get the tranny done also. 10:1 is low enough for a turbo bike. A stock motor with studs and valve springs will hold 375hp for a while. I've done it many times the only thing that mept breaking when i turned the boost up past that was i kept crushing the output shaft bearing. Do not drop the compression below 10:1. I would throw a msd mc3 on top of the stock ignition too it helps alot.

Man U need to jump on the h beams or knifes! That's a deal to keep your motor alive even if u don't hit 30 psi it's good insurance if somethin ever goes wrong.

This is an old Mr Turbo draw though system. With HSR Mikuni, love this carb!
Figured how to get excellent driveability out of these!

It has been running for TEN years with, I assume, stock rods.
It is also a street bike and never sees the track.
The most boost I think this thing has seen is 15 psi.
My buddy bought it as a semi basket case and I suggested to take the motor down.
They just threw it back together. It had been used hard.
A gasket set (copper head) was all it needed to get it back on the road.
It never would have lasted if I hadn't gone though it.
It's also got a Dyna ignition with retard.
It ran good and never had any problems.
He said for a long time that it was his "go to" bike.
It did pull a stud (good ones) out of the cases and was helicoiled about 5 yrs ago, oil leak.
I am not that experienced with these motors but did put it together for him.
I'm a KZ guy and that's all I've ever had.
I did work for Hahn for three years so I think I might know what I can get away with.

Those knife rods sound good, will tell him.
Stock Busa rods? That sounds REAL good. Will that swap work?
The bad rod bearing caused the rod to hit the skirt on one of the bores.

He doesn't seem to be in any hurry so don't expect anything to happen fast.
Still need to find a block.
I need to measure the pistons cause I think they might be useable.
Thanks for all the replies.

Yes busa rods will work. Same dia wristpind and big end. They are a little longer. You'll need to make up the difference at the base gasket.

The stock ignition is better and works great and with msd on it then its even better. Without studs the gasket will go again. Did u o ring the block with that copper gasket? If not its not gonna hold. But with it tuned rite and good ignition you can run 15psi all u want and it will last forever. Studs and springs and clutch mods and you'll b Rollin.at 15psi that should have u in the 200-220 hp range.
