Default Looking for a V-Twin Muscle bike

I love sportbikes and I'm not ready for a harley or anything, but I'd like to have a V-Twin to cruise with my buddies. Looking for a bike that I can accessorize to my taste, but also beef up the performance. If I decide I want to go to the strip, I don't want to have to worry about a street ridden Hardley.

I see the M109 is popular, have the differential issues been taken care of? I also love Yamahas but is the performance gonna be able to take care of a VTX 1800? I have a buddy that has a modded VTX that hasn't had any trouble with Japanese or American Cruiser V-twins. Is the VTX that good of a platform?

The top performing cruiser, out of those you mentioned would be the VRod.

I have a 109 and never had any issues with anything. Good strong dependable bike. Relaxing ride for day trips.

The Yamaha "Star" Series has some very interesting options as well. If you look into the record books for AMA/Prostar's V-Twin class, you will see modified Yamaha "Warriors" getting it DONE! The warrior is 1700 cc.
