Aftermarket ECU's?

This is a discussion about Aftermarket ECU's? within the Tuning Performance section, where you will Engine mods-Tuning talk for all Sport Bikes Every little bit helps!; What are the advantages of an aftermarket ecu over stock units. Is there a big difference between them or is it better to just have the stock unit flashed?

    What are the advantages of an aftermarket ecu over stock units. Is there a big difference between them or is it better to just have the stock unit flashed?

    Yes there is a very big difference .

    If you don;t know how to tune or have a tuner do it for you, an aftermarket ECU is a worthless pile of circuit boards. You truly need to know what you are doing before making the switch to a standalone unit.

    higher rpm, more tuning "options" (batch fire, sequential fire, waste spark, CD, etc), datalogging, faster processors for more accurate control. "hotter" spark, some have features built in (boost contol) lots more reasons im sure..that just what i know from my limited experiance with them...hopefully ill be gettin alot more familiar withthem soon though.
