Default Air Shifter Has Slow Leak, WTF!!

I installed an MPS shifter sys and when I ran the checks everything worked except the pressure dropped down to 0 w/in 10 mins. So I checked the valve/solenoid, re-cut all the hoses I cut previously and bubble checked the fittings for leaks...found out the T-fitting is leaking from the collar (the gap between the fitting housing and the quick-disconnect collar)...what's a better alternative to the fittings provided by MPS and how do you guys make sure the ends are square enough for the hose to seal properly against the o-ring? I've heard some people say to use silicone but that seems like it'll do more harm than good. Any expertise and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. BTW, it shifts smooth as butter in the low but I need to get this leak squared away before I test it at the track.

I have a mps sys as well. It will def leak if you do not cut the air hose nice a straight. use a razor blade or box cutter to make CLEAN straight cuts. Then push them in nice a tight.

i prolly wouldnt use silicone just in case some broke lose and got into the system or air ram. Im sure it would not work right with a chunk of silicone some where in it. If i had to use something i would go with teflon paste prolly. it can be blown or washed out but seals 1000 psi nitrous fittings.

as far as alternatives... try home depot or harbor freight and look at some air compressor fittings. they prolly have a T fitting you could get to work. And an air compressor has basically the same operating psi.

    hope this help.

I cut the hose with a razor knife and use compression fittings from Grainger part # 1VPD8 about $20.00 for 10 and have had better luck with the lines not leaking. Good Luck.

I had the same problem. try teflon paste on the fittings between the bottle and switch. If that dont work use better pushlock fittings sealed with teflon paste. Last resort use -3 steel braided line and fittings between the bottle and air switch.

I use a tubing cutter bought at home dept. Cuts square every time. I believe it is rigid brand for $15.

I replaced all mine with push lock fittings I fot from a non site sponsor. So if you rupture a line at the track its just a quick cut and push it back in the fitting.

These are the push in fitting that I use. They have a sleeve in the inside. I have never had one leak. I also use 1/4 line that has more wall thickness and has a higher psi rating. You can see the cheap 1/4 line that has a thinner wall thickness in the last pic
