Manual cam chain tensioner
just bought a 06 zx10. hasm what i am pretty sure, is a rod knocking noise (very quiet at the moment). i noticed the bike has a manual cam chain tensioner on it and wanted to see about adjusting that before i start going through the block finding out what this ticking/knocking sound is.
my quesiton is, how do i adjust the cam chain? i read you losen the tensioner, start the bike and tighten until the chain stops making noise but that just doesn't sound right

Re: Manual cam chain tensioner
Thats pretty much what i did. If you crank the bike and the back the tensioner off the chain will start slappin the case. I tightened mine up until the slappin stopped and rode it and listened. Then i would come back and tighten it some and ride it again and so on and so on until the noise was gone.

Re: Manual cam chain tensioner
drop the oil pan. if you have a rod bearing issue you will know it when you drop the pan.
