getting eady for 1st pass

This is a discussion about getting eady for 1st pass within the Track Tips section, where you will Need advice on drag racing?; hey guys, getting ready for 1st pass on bike at the track, i have an 08 r1 stretched 10" strapped and lowered, i weigh about 230, thinking i should launch about 6k, and oll out

    hey guys, getting ready for 1st pass on bike at the track, i have an 08 r1 stretched 10" strapped and lowered, i weigh about 230, thinking i should launch about 6k, and oll out the clutch and pinning it at the same time, its a stock clutch bike...what do u guys think, im open to hear comments....thanks for the info

    you're over thinking it for your first pass...........just go out there and have fun, it'll come to ya. the best rider on earth never ran a perfect pass on his first shot, so dont worry about it.

    What WC SWB said is good advice but at the same time just leave like your at a stop light the first few times till you get the hang of it. Don't worry yourself about R/T, 60, or even ET right now. Just have fun for now. Don't try to impress anyone, stay safe and ride within your means till you get better.

    I took my bike to the track maybe 2-3 months after buying it (first bike) and wound up flippin' my bike cause I was trying to beat a guy on a 600 who was a much better rider and was beating me left and right! Learn from my mistake and just take it easy for now........

    ya, i know im ove thinking it, ive ran it on the steet, not too bad, i know it will be different with how the track hooks, so im expecting it to bog a bit, will holding it at a highe rpm help??
    also, i know every bike is different..

    leave at 6000rpms for now. It should bog. Once you get used to it, leave at about 9500 and slip the clutch.

    hey guys, made about 6 passes this passed saturday, on my 08 r1 stretched... my best was a 10.4 @ 137, with a 1.8 sixty foot... im going back this coming saturday, gonna lauch higher, around 8k, and let the clutch out from the light... should be able to cack high 9's after a few passes...i weigh about 225 in my boxers, so with gear, it blows...
