I don't run a filter but do have a screen to protect against larger objects, then again my bike is as well a track only bike....

We did back to back runs, went a few hundredths quicker with filter removed, so took the air box off and went quicker again. Over a tenth in total but replaced the air box for that day. Then put individual pre filters over each throttle body with the air box removed from then on. Just remember to coil up some wire inside it to stop the engine eating the filter.

here is the facts.without a filter in a perfect world = less restriction=more air= more hp.the problem is , even clean air has dust (micro particals) wich will scratch the cylinder walls & piston rings.the two items needed for compression sealing.when compression points start to drop & blowby increases power will be lost and these item will need to be replaced(piston rings)or replated(cylinder walls).i'd rather have 1-2 hp less ,but keep unnecessary & costly repairs down.

Done back to back on the dyno a 1000 times.... it makes more power. The drawback, is a couple HP worth the lack of filtration. Eventually dirt will tear up the engine etc.

yep, i agree.not worth doing because of screwing up your engine.not unless a person has plenty of loot to spend and will win a race (grudge)that will pay a large sum or a sponser to cover the cost of a early rebuild.
