You Hit the Hail On the head........."Rotating Mass"
Same Reason a Chevy Big Block(454ic) makes So Much More TQ than a Small Block(350ci). Its all about Leverage.

has a little bit to do with port velocity as well.

Re: I just dont get it!
It's kinda like a difference between a small block chevy and a big block chevy. Both have the hp numbers it just takes a bb a little longer to turn those numbers. it's mass, weight, rpms.

Re: I just dont get it!
I understand the rotating mass ..etc I just dont see why the Busa motor being so much larger and the cylinder head flowing more(I'll check on the velocity ,but Im sure (Busa)it has more and the #' arent close) want make more HP ?? Take a 500 inch big block (Built, good heads..etc and a 350 Built ...etc Theres no comparison in HP ...
Guess i'll just sell my busa and get a zx10...LOL

Re: I just dont get it!
swap motors in both bikes, the 1000 motor won't pull the busa's weight, but on the other hand, the busa motor will be a handful in the 1000 chassis.....power to weight ratio........the 1000 package is lighter.....

Re: I just dont get it!
A busa motor would ( I think ) make more hp at the crank but it's a different story at the rear wheel. Busa 's were made to do one thing and that be the fastest bike on the planet. That was true, just not in the 1/4 mile. In theory a gsxr will jump a busa off the line and have faster 60 ft time than a busa, but the gap will decrease as they go down the track. If you were to run both bike a mile, The busa would run off and leave the gsxr in the dust.
I know it hard to understand. but the rotating mass is a lot more than the weight of the bike. the cranks are a lot different, stroke, the total pkg is different.

Any 1397 that only makes 200hp something is WRONG. I see it every day you don't just throw a motor together and expect it to make power. there is tons of power in deck hight, cam timing ,porting ,piston design,
and cams. So a 1397 busa only making 200hp is leaving 15-20hp+ on the table.

Re: I just dont get it!
its all in RPM difference . example in lay terms , alot of semi trucks have 700 hp motors ( at 3000 rpm ) but could not run anywhere close to a 700 hp ( @ 7000 rpm ) rat motor in the same car weighing the same . its all about rpm. thats just one aspect and does not apply to every motor .
