Suzuki has already said the 2013 will be the same bike as the last 5 years..Word is suzuki sales have been down in the past few years,which means no money for research and development,and without r&d there wont be a new bike....

yep everybodys sells have been down with the economy that last 5 years, i think the only reason kawi came with the 2012 14r was to try and boost sells but at $15k i dont how well that went over

$15k bikes will be the norm from here on out; it isn't Kawasaki price gouging. The dollar doesn't buy much.


Honestly, unless the oem's start sending buyers to Schnitz/Gadsen's rider classes, these bikes aren't going to get much faster for most purchasers. Aside from aesthetics, I don't think we'll get much out of a gen 3 busa, which is fine. What do we need that the aftermarket hasn't provided? Why should Suzuki spend the money on R&D when the minority buyers that want additional features are adding it themselves?

Part of it is the economy, part of it is the Hayabusas primary purchasing demographic. Most drag oriented people don't purchase new.

Actually according to most dealerships Kawasaki has been up in sales past few years due to the new zx10 and zx14. The aftermarket has killed suzuki sales due to the fact you can buy so much to improve the suzuki. Which is not the case with the kawasaki,the affordable aftermarket is just not there for kawasakis. But for everybody looking for the fastest bike off the showroom floor,without tearing into the motor,will be looking toward the new kawasakis..

Kawasaki runs a great PR and marketing campaign, as far as niche brands go.

dont under estimate the power of money. the busa was one of the best selling touring/sport bikes sold for almost a decade. if Suzuki is having money issues there are investors that will gladly invest in a proven bike. far more proven the the ZX-14 could even dream of being. so if they feel there is a demand which there is since the ZX-14 is the quintessential king of the hill then I would say 2-3 years at most.

lets face it the ZX-14 is not a good lookn bike in stock form. stretched and lowered it looks great but thats probably 5% of them. the busa has always been better lookn in stock form and many people just want the fastest bike out there and right now its the ZX-14 unless you go forced induction but even then the busa has far better choices out there especially when talkn turbo kits available.

although, RCC will be offering a turbo kit for the ZX-14 up till 2010 I think. not 100% sure on the years but its not for the 2012.

Exactly....Because everybody I know that bought one this year only paid a couple hundred dollars more for the zx14 than the dealer was asking for a new busa!

Suzuki is getting behind as far as new bikes are concerned. But it came to me that I can a used Gen2 and do a 5mil crank with headwork and cams and still stay around the price of a new zx14.

Exactly right as well...But only guys that are deep into drag racing and modifying their bike extensively will know that is even possible..Your average joe,outside of the drag racing community will just want to walk in the dealership and walk out with the biggest bang for their buck. And for now it will be with kawasaki...
