    Default Gen2 motor to a Gen1 frame

Ok,,,, I'm swapping a G2 motor into my G1 frame. Im also planning on using the G2 fairings as well. I have all the necessary components such as: ECU, harness, clip ons, fuel pump, cluster, rear subframe, fairings, and radiator.

I've done some research and talked to a few guys here locally that have done the same thing. My question is this "do I have to shim the motor to avoid having the chain hit the frame?" If so, how much and how should this process be approached. As always, I look forward to the feedback and thanks!!

External cases demensionally are the same. As far as I know, shouldn't matter. I have a gen1 and a gen2, but have never tried swapping the motor haha.

sprocket output shaft sticks out further than genn 1
as why most add thick washer on sporcket side of motor on install
u can have sprocket machined on the back side to slide on further
so not to have to shim motor over
also can fix the difference when shaft is out of motor
not to have to do any shimmin motor or millin sprocket

both side panels of gen2 plastics need 'push in' holes with the rubber gromlet in the gen1 frame, that's if you don't wanna just buzz off the pieces of the gen2 panels that push into the frame

Yes as John stated the gen2 will put the sprocket out farther thus putting the chain very close to the frame (usually does a little rubbing under power)
Best way to fix it is machine the spacer behind the sprocket if you have the trans out if not second best option is to machine the back side of the sprocket, if neither one of those it done then yes shim the motor over.

And reverse; having gen2 wheels/sprocket carrier on a gen 1 motor will be off as well? I swear I measured a dozen times and the chain is straight, but now you guys have me wondering

Thanks everyone for the feedback,,, Great Stuff!! I think millling the sprocket is going to be the best approach for me. How much do I need to knock off?
