Maaco here, really frowns on doing it, they will charge an outrageous price, because they are more of an assembly line place, instead of taking the time to deal with each individual piece, they would rather put everything together then paint. . .

i wouldnt do it, my buddy had a car done there, looked good at first, but probably less than a year later, its already faded and looks like crap, this tucson desert sun probably made it happen quicker than normal, but shouldnt have done that in such a short time

Make sure when you get something painted you dont use a paint called (Nason). Use a good quality paint.

Dont do it. Pay a little more to have it prepped right and sprayed with quality materials.

Yes please do yourself a favor and have it done by someone that has experience painting bikes and use top shelf paint. I can promise you as someone that paints bikes that they react alot different than metal cars. There are alot of little tricks that make a bike paint job turn out alot better.

What's wrong with Nason? it's a dupont product just less exspensive then the other dupont.

Yeah, I second everyone and think you should not get it painted at Maaco. I used to work there some years ago. The paint they use is really thick and doesn't last. All it is is industrial grade Sherwin Williams paint and it does fade very quickly. The base/clear is better than the cheapest paint job, but I still don't recomend it. But I do recomend is that if you can go there and pull the painter to the side and ask him for side work, he may be able to do you a better quality paint job on his own time and at a better price. It still might not be top knotch but may be cheaper than a custom shop, just a thought.

Here is a picture of my 08 busa that a friend and I just got done painting. it's 2010 camaro Inferno orange. pictures don't show up the gold flake and pearl very well.here's what we did. I bought a quart and a half of the paint in Nason was 85.00. then bought a pint of the chroma base inferno orange as well. 118.00 pint. we shot 4 coats of the nason orange then mixed a ratio of the chroma base orange into the first two coats of clear then followed that up with two plain coats of clear. the clear was also nason. the paint has no orange peel and looks just waxed all the time. can't wait to get a good coat of was on it to relly make it pop. don't even have to wet sand and buff it's so good. therre was 3 dust nubs in the whole bike!

finishing salvage bike rebuild, just had every plastic, all different ebay colors painted. i wet sanded each part myself with 400 and cleaned. with all prep work done, $340.00, jet black. ready in 4 days. i know good paint work, and this man can paint. damn it looks good. thing is, if your on a budget, as i am, do what you can yourself. time is money.clean all oil from inside fairings everywhere, and prep yourself. wet sand to perfection, professionals charge a lot to clean and prepare your greasy, scratched, rashed fairings.all parts were wrapped, ready to paint, he furnished paint and materials. my guy does a lot of custom, restoration work, weve been friends for 20 yrs, it pays to know or research your painter, the guy with the paint gun in his hand, my bike is 05 zx10 and paint is show quality, exactly what i wanted. you will get what you pay for, but you can get more for less if you are willing. depends on what you want.
