180/55 or 190/50

This is a discussion about 180/55 or 190/50 within the Staging Lanes section, where you will It All Starts Here! Bench Racing with Drag Race Discussion; Which tire is best at the 1320'? 180/55 or 190/50? Right now I'm using a 180/55 Pirelli slick and it hooks great, but once my turbo bike is built, I think I'll need as much

190 is lower profile and wider...i would go with the 190...BUT you should always go with a tire that has only enough contact patch to hook your application up...and gain maximum traction...

Both sizes work great on stock width wheel.

6.25 and wider the 190/50 is the best.

What wheel base will your turbo bike be at.

Turbo bikes up the 64 inches run the Michelin Power Ones and Mickey Thompson MCR2 and Shinko Drag Radial .

Turbo bikes longer than 64 inches run Michelin Power One and Mickey Thompson MCR2.

Note the MCR2 only comes in a 190-50-17.

If I can help you more just let me know.....

Right now I'm trying to figure out which length would be best for my bike. Class rules allow for up to 68" on a turbo bike, so I want to be competitive if possible, but then again, I really enjoy going to test n tune nights where the track prep isn't very good. I'm planning for about 300whp.

Are you saying that the power one has greater grip than the shinko hook up? That why on long bikes more prone to wheelspin your not recommending the shinko Come on there both great tires

You still got the dragtec on your 750?

I'm saying on 68 inch 500rwhp bikes I only see Michelin and Mickey
I'm saying on stock wheel base TO 64 inch wheel base I see Shinko-Micheln and Mickey

Yeah, just extensions right now up to 9 inches. Trying to figure out if it's worth getting a 12" (68" wheelbase) arm.

I think it is worth getting a chrome-moly arm that is adjustable from 64 to 68 inches

I'd go with the Shinko "Hook Up" 190/50-17, especially while getting the bike dialed in. They're much cheaper than the other drag radials!
