This is a discussion about Shinko Drag Radial (First Impression) within the Staging Lanes section, where you will It All Starts Here!
Bench Racing with Drag Race Discussion; Just wanted to say that I am pretty impressed so far! Went to the track today where I normally run a u soft or 008 at 12psi-14psi. Started off at 20 psi and tire performed

i wanna know how long its gonna last on the street/strip bike....40 more dollars or so for a p1 that last 3 times as long is just common sense

I read all the posts around here and from what I gathered.................the new Shinko was a better track only tire. I have another rim and tire if I want to ride on the street. My big issue was getting a tire that I would not have to worry about it hooking up in less than favorable track conditions. I have seen quite a few with tires like the MCR2 do fine when we were all complaining about the track in the past on other brands. My U-soft was a stab in the dark at times if the track prep was not that great and the MCR2 just did not last long enough. I saw that wear in one day of TNT. This tire does remind me of the MCR2 but looks like it will last a lot longer. From my unreliable and non-certified inexperience, I would say it is a much better choice for guys that run at the track and dont need to ride it on the street for the price. If you want a tire to do both then a P1 or regular U-soft maybe. I am sold on this one personally. No point of spending all this money on towing, race fuel, entry fees, etc ..... and buying a mediocre tire and having to pray that the track is perfect. I will buy an inexpensive tire like this and only use it at the track. I will save the Shinko Raven street tire for I-75

I hear you brother. Best investment after a Brock pipe was the extra rim, lol. Makes life a lot easier. MPS makes a handy alignment tool that helps you make sure things are good to go. I made my own since I am always pulling it off. I can have the wheel changed out in a few minutes after some street riding if need be for the track. I have seen extra rims on here pretty cheap. Better here than flea bay!

Re: Shinko Drag Radial (First Impression)
i just tried mine out today......by far the softest tire i've ever felt, but it doesn't really seem to get sticky. i had a lot of issues, so i didn't get to really push the tire.

id rather just get a clip type master link and have a whole swing arm setup ready..lol..just pop the chain, pull the pivot pin, swap the arm/tire and im done lol..no aligning and about 15 minutes to do...lol

Re: Shinko Drag Radial (First Impression)
The thing you have to understand JC is this new Shinko is not designed to be a street tire. You dont see people riding Mickeys on the street do you. It was made as a more affordable option to the MCR2, not for a dual purpose tire. You need to invest in another rim/tire setup for track use if you want a high mileage tire for the street. Your bike aint that long so I would think you would be fine with a U-Soft. All my Busas and my 1000 had a U-Soft on them and were a hell of alot longer than your bike and still hooked up fine. Hell on my lil 1000 Hollywood was pullin 1.29-1.34 60 footers every pass on the U-Soft sittin longer than you are.
...Just a fella enjoying all God's blessings!

Re: Shinko Drag Radial (First Impression)
it will last longer than a MCR2...but will wear out quick on the street as a daily driver...
it is a true Drag Radial... there is a big difference between a real drag radial compound and a road racing compound that just happens to work

i thought it was originally advertised as a street/strip tire....could be i just misread somewhere along the way...oh wells...my bike is bout to be sittin at 69 inches. i wanna run in the street to, so i think imma go with the P1, im sure this is a good tire for whats its made for, but im used to those shinkos you CANT wear out lol.

Re: Shinko Drag Radial (First Impression)
Your two thumbs up was good enough. The title of this post is shinko drag radial. not richie chime in with your tire..........in yet another post. IF I even mumbled shinko in one of your topics of a topic about a tire of yours I'd get a warning. Calm down your tire will sell them selves.
If you got a problem call me 804-874-6079 james
