    Default Shinko tire history.

Does any know of the History of how the Shinko 003 series came about? I thought I read that the 003's were originally a copy of a road race tire that was brought over to drag racing.

Or has the 003 always been a dedicated drag tire?

I want to get my facts straight.

Well actually it's not the old yokahoma 003...the yoke 003 was much rounder...When the yokahoma factory fell over, the mold was destroyed and Shinko purchased the rights to the mold for the tread pattern...for those that never seen the yokahoma 003, the new michelin power one is the closest thing to the yokahoma 003...it had the round edges like the what the michelin has...at the end of it's existence, the yokes were going for $500-$600 a tire new..they were some bad tires!!

Best tire ever, If theses tires were avalible now you could throw all others in the trash. Back in the day I was 12 over in the street and some times it would push the front tire on the street when I tried to burn out srteet racing.

17 inch still in the wrapping paper. I held on to it for Prosperity since they are no longer made. It hooked back then but it cant compare with any of the tires mainly used in Dragracing today. Bikes these days have much more horsepower and torque to the ground

WOW, that may be true times change fast here lately. It doesn't seem that long ago when streetbike shoot out was looking for 7.99. And on a bandit at that
