not too sure about the oil cooled motors but if u can take out the shift forks without splitin' the motor take a look at them, this will help figure out if its the dogs on the gears or something else.

    Cases have to be split.
Sounds like You've got bad dogs (rounded) on the gears. Get the gears undercut.
Take a good look at the shift forks while you inside the motor along with condition of the shift drum.

Where are you located?????? No matter where you are, try to use one of the sponsors on this site. I have used Carolina Cycles for a lot of my tranny work. Not sure if Dwayne at Cycle Concepts does his own in-house tranny work but contact him as well.

Send your own transmission to them. There may not be much wrong with it and at least you'll know what you have. They will tear it down and evaluate it to be sure its rebuildable and report back to you. If yours is not useable, they may have a core in stock they can undercut and send to you. Turnaround time should be one week.

Bottom line- support the shops that support us.

X2 Jeff at Carolina Cycle does all our tranny work on all our bikes, can't remember the last time we've had a shifting issue since.
