I have an opportunity to purchase a KZ 1000and a GS1100 big tire set-up. Which bike is easier to build and most durable? I've heard that the KZ's will break easy on a healthy build. Input please.

Talk to dragracer on here about a kz build and I would talk to bill vose on here about the gs.Hope this helps
unless you've already got some parts or are partial to kawis........GS hands down.

Plan and simple, its cheaper to build a KZ than a GS. On the other hand, you can get better performance out of a naturally aspirated GS than a KZ with comparable sized motors. A KZ has an 8 valve head and a GS has a 16 valve head- its simply a matter of flow which equates to horsepower.
I will caution you that GS parts are much harder to come by than KZ parts as far as complete motors, cases, crank etc... and the prices are outrageous in my opinion. An example- $150 for a set of stock KZ cases versus $300 plus for a set of GS cases. A used KZ crank ($200) can be checked with an index rod, welded ($100) and put straight into a drag motor. A Zuk crank ($300) will need to be disasembled, rebuilt and fitted with straight cut gears($1500) before you should even consider using it for dragracing.
I started down the path of building a Zuk to run top gas but backed away quickly when i started adding up cost versus a Kaw.
Bottom line, they both make good dragbikes. Its about what brand you prefer.
I don't know who told you a KZ breaks easily but i totally disagree. All of them will break if abused or if you run them to long without freshening one up.
i guess it depends on how fast you want to go.......if you're trying to go fast, it doesn't really matter how much a stock crank goes for.
if you want a reliable bracket bike, pick your favorite sport bike and go ride one.![]()
