On the 83 GS you have a linkage off of the shift shaft and there is so much slop that I can't get it set to work properly.I can say that Clint has been more than helpful on all my gremlins I am finding.

A few of the guys i know just take all that linkage crap off and put a shift arm off a GSXR or equilvalent directly onto the shift shaft on the motor. It eliminates all that slop from the linkage. You'll then need to fabricate a bracket to hang the shift cylinder from.
