any fzr1000 gurus here?

I just aquired a fzr1000 dragbike. 1st off im trying to locate a clutch basket for it. Does any1 know what yrs interchange? I was told that this was a 1988 motor in a 89 frame. Also how do you identify what yr engine you have? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I dont know much about them but I got parts taking up space in you need anything.

'87 and '88 were the same. '89 had an almost complete redesign of the engine. The frame was redesigned also which allowed the engine to tilt more. I wanted to put an '89 engine in my '87 frame and it wouldn't work. I bought my basket from Falicon but that was almost 15 years ago. Also, watch the fiber plates. Mine always broke into about 20 pieces approximately 1" in length. MRE also built me a lock-up for it. I'm not sure if Jay still makes them though.

I race a FZR 1000 put a Billet clutch Basket in it and have had no problems with it. Run consistant 11's here in Colorado. Bike is bone stock and me suited up 240lbs.
