Water cooled GSXR1100 nitrous question
This is a discussion about Water cooled GSXR1100 nitrous question within the Old School Bikes section, where you will Nobody gets left out with this forum; I've got a 93 GSXR1100W. It runs mid 9.90's in the 1/4 mile. How big a wet shot of nitrous would i need to run 8.80's? I'll be using a progressive timer and pulling timing

Re: Water cooled GSXR1100 nitrous question
Wow you are asking alot from a stock motor.
I personally would build a little more motor and a little less nitros.
I know of a lot of fast water cooled motors but they arnt any where near stock.
They usually have big blocks , or dry 1192 and run dry, oversized valves, cams , lectrons and strokers, plus the gass
to run in the 8 on the regular, with out blowing up.
I know this sounds like alot more than you think you will need, but think about it his way , you have to run 8.70 or better on a great track to run 8.88 on a sh!t track. You will have to dial the nitros back on a good track and up on junk. You arnt gonna get a good track all the time. You know leave soft and make it up on the other end.
If you plan on running that class you gotta do those numbers on a good or junk track. Some body can do it on a stock motor?, but for how long.I dont think it will do it without blowing up.It would be hard to get over a second on gass.
Do you think you can improve your chassis and get any thing out of it. Lighter wheels ,longer arm , lighter body work, slider. If there is room to improve there and get more out of the gass, you can run those numbers , but i dont think that it can do it for long with out some engine work.
I know this is long winded, but i couldnt say it in a few words. If i can give you any help let me know.
Good luck

p.s. if you could spray it that hard, it would be 2 stage and progressive and a lot of gass

Re: Water cooled GSXR1100 nitrous question
Thanks for the info.
I do intend to go with a bigger bottom end (i have a new set of JE 1192 pistons) eventually and install the ported /oversize valve head i had done about 4 years ago. Times running short before the race and building the motor will take me beyond the first race.
Just curious to get some opinions on the possibility of getting a tenth in the 1/4 mile out of the stock motor without turning it into scrape parts- lol.

Re: Water cooled GSXR1100 nitrous question
1117 kits on gas make a nice combo with progressive box... Im sure if you chasis is set up and bike is light ... 8.88 is not a problem ..

Re: Water cooled GSXR1100 nitrous question
Reason Im saying the 1117 is because you just bore and dont have to buy sleeves and labor to install... And the waterpumper small motors run just about the same as the 1146, 1192, 1198 motors. There is a little 1117 at 67" on the gas running 8.40's with a hand clutch to run 8.88 with these little motors. Save the money and run a 1117 on gas. I have several of these motors of all sizes (stroker and standard cranks and big blocks too) and the 1117 is tough and likes the gas. Thing that kills the Waterpumper is the valve train.. Do Not Put Them On the Rev Limiter!!! Thats the key to making them Live! As for the bottom end they are tough and rarely give problems. Hope this helps.

Thanks bro, that does help knowing you've had experience with the different bore sizes. I agree its cheaper to go no bigger than 1146 since you can still use the stock sleeves.
What size jets did you use when the bike ran 8.40???? Was it using a progressive box or off the button???
Thanks again for the info.

Re: Water cooled GSXR1100 nitrous question
I got a stock block laying around. I think i can get my hands on a used set of stock 1127 oil cooled pistons. Will get the block bored and the valve pockets massaged and try that set up since its fairly cheap to do.

are you sure you want to spray on top of those stock bore 1127 pistons being they`re not forged?

How about using a set of stock Hayabusa pistons with re-sleeved 1100w block?

Shouldn't need to spray much with the bigger bore and the ported big valve head i intend to install. Will pull timing out to keep from the melt down

Re: Water cooled GSXR1100 nitrous question
my bike is at 67" with an 1117.
went 8.48 at 162 pulled the clutch in at about 1100-1200 feet because it hit the rev limiter.
i sprayed 60 hp. 1 sec delay 2 sec build on that pass
when i race only eigth mile i go .5 sec delay 1.5 build.
since that pass now my valves leak. so like he said. no rev limiter and there good to go.
i attached some pics here to show you my chassis.
my bike has lectrons. stock valves a decent set of cams ported. carillo rods stock crank undercut transmission. and a single stage lockup
the chassis set up is good. the best 60 foot ive ever pulled is a 1.28 at 67" on my 8.48 run i only pulled a 1.42
i average 1.29-1.33.
set the chassis up good and get a little bit of help in the motor and these bikes will run with those new bikes
