tire advice

This is a discussion about tire advice within the Old School Bikes section, where you will Nobody gets left out with this forum; im looking for a sticky tire for a customer. He has a gs1100 with a 140-70-17 tire. He brought me a extended swingarm for it. I know it wont hook with the reg tire. Who

    im looking for a sticky tire for a customer. He has a gs1100 with a 140-70-17 tire. He brought me a extended swingarm for it. I know it wont hook with the reg tire. Who makes something for these old bikes? i know he should convert to sportbike wheels but hes on a limited budget. I might be able to go up a few sizes. let me know. thanks.

    He may have to go to a 160/70/17. Measure the clearances and see if it possible.

    I can get you Michelin Power One 160s and Michelin 160 slicks. New or Scuffs. If he is on a budget I would suggest scuffs.

    First I just need a little info about the bike so I can give you the best input.....

    what wheel base is the bike
    how wide is the wheel...... like a 5.5x17 0r 4.5x17

    Looks like we only have a 2.50 rim. its only 4-over. **** i really dont know, it might hook with a reg tire? its a stock bike.

    So the rear wheel is a 2x5-17?....is the tire off the wheel.if so measure inside to inside of the rim.

    If it's a 2.5x 17 aint no way it had a 140-60-17 tire on it.

    GS1100 came with a 4.50/17 rear tire from the factory

    Its a stock wheel says 2.50 on it. It auctually measures 2.75 bead to bead. What you guys think?

    a 160 may fit but I'm not sure. Look for 150/70/17 Supermotard tires

    OK you going to think this is weird but

    you can put a 120-70-17 front tire on that 2.75 wheel
    a 120-70-17 fits a 3.5 wheel....

    It works .done it.

    I got 120-70-17 power one fronts....power races fronts....scuffs these are race compound tires
