Mickey thompson makes a 8.5 inch tire for a 17 inch rim that is DOT approved. It would probably have to be bead locked so it wouldn't spin on the rim but seams like once you would decrease the chances of spinning you would only have to worry about wheelie control. Just looking for input on why not

Not sure on this but i think it has to be a dot "street" tire.

I have said this many times on this website, the faster you go, the harder it is to lower that ET. I am not the fastest by any stretch of the imiganation, but I have made passes where I wheelied hard and went 40's, and then I have passes that are smooth as silk and only go 30's. Put it this way, it won't happen this year.

#1) The title of this thread describes the first 6-Second PRO STREET bike. By default, unless otherwise stated, everything in this thread is about PRO STREET bikes.

#2) I did not say it wasn't impressive that a 200 lb man went 7.90's on a Real Street bike. I said it wasn't relevant to this conversation about PRO STREET bikes going 6.90's.

#3) Your own comments on this thread disprove what you say, and reinforce what Dwayne said. The fact that the 120lb Teasley went 7.80's at only 62in, and the 200lb Coby only went 7.90's at 66in on essentially the same bike, proves that weight on a nitrous bike is EVERYTHING.

#4) Dwayne did not say anything about rider weight on nitrous bikes in Real Street. He said nitrous bikes, meaning PRO STREET nitrous bikes. And he meant PRO STREET nitrous bikes because this discussion is about PRO STREET bikes going in the 6's. In Pro Street, unlike in Real Street, there is no extra wheelbase or any other incentives given for heavier riders. If the rider weights more on a nitrous bike in PRO STREET, then he is at a disadvantage. Period. End of discussion. If you doubt that extra weight is a disadvantage, then see #3.

For those of you that have apparently not read the rulebook for yourself, here is the entire MIRock rulebook for tires:

TIRES: DOT motorcycle street tires only, slicks prohibited.

The keyword is "motorcycle". A car tire is not a motorcycle tire.

There is nothing in the rulebook preventing any bike from running a GS motor. No one runs them because the only advantage to a GS motor is a much bigger maximum displacement. But they also carry a big weight disadvantage, a chassis disadvantage, a cylinder head disadvantage, and the factory charging systems are prone to snapping the end of the crankshaft off. In the case of turbo bikes with their 1370cc limitation in the rules, there is absolutely no favorable reason to run a GS, only a bunch of reasons not to run one.

Even with a nitrous combo, I have my doubts that a GS would be the way to go. They just give up too much in the area of suspension, chassis, weight distribution, and overall weight.

Don't pop a blood vessel on this. I made a mistake about what he meant. So there fore I'm not going to go back and forth on this

A 6 second pass is not out of the question but it is going to take a perfect pass and atleast a 4.62 1/8th mile with a great back half. Doing it in testing is not the same as doing it at a race. i dont see it happening this year unless we are going to Milan and running behind some promods.
