The bike I run right now has the back side of the low beam housing cut out and you can see right through to the battey box. Is that illegal per the current rules?
    Rodney,

I am not trying to come down on you personally, but this is the kind of thing that frustrates me to no end. And this is also exactly how we ended up with at least a half-dozen Pro Street bikes in violation of the headlight rule last weekend.

It seems that someone, somewhere, either failed to correctly read the rulebook, or just made an assumption that something was legal without actually investigating it. Then that person either told someone else, or that second someone saw the bike and also assumed it was legal, once again without finding out for themselves. The next thing you know, everyone has either copied or listened to someone else while failing to take the responsibility to actually open up the rulebook and read.

I would ask if you have actually read the part of the rulebook on this subject, but I know by your answer that you have not. If you had, you would know that what you are asking isn't even close to legal. What would you have done if Jason had answered you incorrectly, then you built a bike based on what he said? Who's fault would it be when you got DQed?

So what can be done to it???

From what I got....you can mod the rear closure as long as no light escapes right?

Low beam circuit has to be used but can be placed in high beam or low beam spot?

No the rule is in place due to this being a Pro-street class. They want to retain as much of the stk. apper. as possible. It was originally placed for cont. money, because the manf. wanted the bikes to resemble a factory bike. But they are not paying at this time but when things in the econ. turn around they will start paying again. So we need to keep the rules in affect so that they will come back.

The head light being cut is usually due to people putting the battery and other elect. up front which can be cons. a perf. gain. But what ever! Just build tyhe bikes per the rules and you will not have any problems!

    You're kidding, right?

What part of a current pro street bike actually resembles a stock/factory bike? My answer would be the tail lights only. The entire rest of the bike is completely modified.

I think the new head light rule(or revised rule) is a step in the right direction.

the rules have not changed. Its the same rule that has been in there! The difference is I called tech and asked what their interpretation of the rule was and that's how we did ours. You cannot just read the rule and go with it if you do not clearly understand the intent of the rule.

I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE SAY PRO STREET BIKES DONT LOOK FACTORY?? they are modified, yes! they are not stock bikes.... but they keep factory lines and shapes in the body, they have headlights, and tail lights, stock forks, stock frames, and DOT TIRES!!! WTF?? a PRO MOD does not look factory... a FUNNY BIKE does not look factory, but a pro street bike does! it just looks like a race bike

Phil, I read the rules, the owner of the bike I ride bought the bike and it was delivered in Atco last season. I asked about the cut out headlight and no working tail light before the race and was told it will be OK the rule was interpreted a litttle different. Me being new to that class assumed the VETS knew the deal. It's OK, I am building my own Prostreet and it will be built to the rules.

If you want to get technical about it, there's no rule against me putting my intercooler in front of my headlight or in front of my front tire. That would sure resemble a production bike...
