Street et was down to 7 bikes
Crazy 8's down to 3 bikes, I was still in both...
Super comp down to 3 bikes, i lost w/6 left.
A guy went down at 9:15 & alot of oil downs
plus 2 rounds of buy backs in the et classes.
Wish i could of had 30 more min. My bike was runnin the #
And they only finished the A classes for all the Pros. The B class Pro Comp and Pro Street never finished either. Pro Street B only got one round in all day.
This is my opinion. Looked like they they took there sweet time with the "PRO'S" and rushed the sportsman racers. Sportsman has has to be there at 8:30, make one run and wait ALL day to make another then they want to hurry up. They finished up the "PRO'S" to completion and rushed the rest. 1st AND 2nd round buybacks sound greedy and not to smart to me. You don't really start racing till 3rd round. Adding B classes just adds more classes that you have to find time for. There could have been something said about the curfew and what would happen when it came. Instead they announce 15 min. left, 5 min. left and then 10:00 on the nose they shut the boards of and all of the pit lights so the people that have been there for 3 days have to load up in the dark. I can understand a curfew but not the way they went about it. Heard many good things about SGMP but that all went out the window. Been wanting to go to a big race since ProStar and this was a disappointment. I still had fun but to end a good weekend like that sux. SGMP and Man. Cup need to get there shit together. I don't think Ill be back knowing you can spend plenty money and drive that far to not finish.
Feel sorry for the grudge guys going this weekend. Better not wait till the last min. to get a race off because they shut the lights off on ya.
I disagree with not finishing Saturday's race.... At least at the time. I was trying to gain some valuable points and wanted to finish it out.... And it helped me out. After Saturday, it should have been clear that 2nd round buybacks needed to be cancelled, which would have provided plenty of time to finish all the racing.
Not sure if its true or not, but a track worker said the last big race went over an hour and it was $4000 in fines. Plus the track fee. Its funny because a train goes by ( seems like every 10-15 minutes ) blowing the horn the whole way. Ive got an idea.....DON'T BUILD A HOUSE NEXT TO A TRACK THEN COMPLAIN ABOUT THE NOISE YOU DUMB *SSES.
In the Saturday P/ET race one of the 7 at 11:00 did not want to split the purse, that's why the had to finish it in the morning.
I hope they reduce the buy backs to 1 or none, you can help make that happen by talking to the promoters and letting them know.
We don't have that many big races anymore, I'm not going to stop going because of a few hiccups, they will get it right. But not if we stop going to the races they put out there.
I was in pro street B class and I was initially upset because we only got one pass all day. But then I thought about it and realized.... I have no idea what its like to try and run a event with 805 entries by a 10pm curfew. And there has never been a turnout like this before, so this was a first time problem. Valdosta never had a curfew before, another first time problem. Let's all be real, if they accommodated one of the classes, one of the others would be pissed. In other words, there was no way to make EVERYBODY happy. But the fact of the matter is, we had 805 entries enter a all motorcycle drag race!! And that is NEVER a bad thing. Especially considering the state that our sport is in. I'm sure the manufacturers learned from it, and will make adjustments. I vote for no buy backs and no grudge. But its a learning experience. I'm excited about man cup and the turnouts we get and the future plans of it. So to all the people who are saying they will boycott it, because of the few mishaps, we won't miss you!!!
This is Richard Gadson.......
I'm going off what Jackie Bryce announced. Not 800 BIKES, but 800 entries. A lot of people race two classes, some even three
I didn't say 800 bikes either. If you go through the results and count you'll get around 560 entries. That's still a big event. I raced two bikes and accounted for 4 entries.
I just didnt like how the track handled it. No hint about what they would do if they got to the curfew. And to shut the lights of at 10:00 on the nose on the people that have been there since Friday didnt seem to cool to me. Hope it changes. Still had fun.
there will NEVER be a event with a true 800 bikes racing.... NEVER! Only way is IF midwest and Texas racers showed up with a few from the west coast as well...
Tracks now days go off money taking in...in other words TECH CARDS purchased
I would think only one round of buybacks would help for sure.
