Re: Who's running crazy 8's this season.
Have gotten some emails from various riders asking questions.
Just to clear up a few things...
* Crazy 8's is not a heads-up class (it is a index class with a 8.88 breakout)
* Crazy 8's will be run with the other sportman classes (not with the pro classes)
* You do not need to run a factory headlight (it can be an aftermarket light)
* There will be 2 qualifying runs on Saturday and 1 last qualifier on Sunday
* We will run the class in qualifying so everyone can see results, but pairings will be done in lanes with a deck of cards (#1 qualifier will get bye-run 1st round if off number of bikes)
* The tree is a .500 pro tree (not a .400 pro tree)
* Must have a hand clutch, no sliders (just putting a clutch lever up there doesnt make you legal, we will be checking clutches periodically)
* Bikes must have DOT street tires front and rear (with visible tread, DOT slicks are illegal)

Re: Who's running crazy 8's this season.
Some have asked about a points fund, but we decided to keep the entry fees low and put all of the money into the purse that everyone at each event could race for, instead of only 2 or 3 riders in the top of the points that have a shot at the championship take the extra money.
The points chase will be great for those that want a competitive series to race in and show their sponsors.

So everyone with a hays clutch in hand slider mode make sure u have the low stall springs in and set at about 1300 rpm so u can choke it with the clutch lever. Remember its not a slider if you can activate it with the clutch lever.

If it is set up in the slider mode it is illegal, we will make riders pull clutch levers to check. When you engage the clutch lever, the pressure plate must seperate.

You can pull the clutch lever in as much as u wish and rev it all you want. Thats the point of the hays clutch..... only way to tell if the pressure plate seperates is to pull the entire clutch cover off, because if u look in the oil plug you will see nothing but basket. well actually you cant even tell then because it all happens on the inside because the presure plate is bolted to the outer basket.
Just like a slider

I never said we would look through the oil fill. We will pull clutch covers periodically and look. As long as the preesure plate moves, then its good.
If someone needs the help of an engine driven clutch to run 8.88, and cant handle riding a stock clutch or a regular lock-up, then more power to them.
If someone tries to get "cute" with setting up a clutch to act like a slider, we will notice and that person will be disqualified immediatley plus a 3 race ban. Everyone knows the intention to this rule.
