Why drop rear to 40t?
Is it because bike not stretched to make it easier off the starting line?
Do you finish the quarter in 4th gear...wouldn't more sprocket get you through the gears quicker and into 5th at the stripe?
Going down on the rear helps a few things at stock wheel base. It gives you more time to get your feet up or the first to second shift and it also helps fight wheelies. But it's much harder on your clutch.
