So, that means multistage lockups are allowed now?

I'm extremely disappointed if that is the case.

yes they are vince, the reason being is to even the playing the field. to help the riders in the back catch up to the ones in the front. you can tune a multi stage to go fast 60's, but you cannot tune a person's clutch hand. they are trying to give the people confidence.... like people who may not ride as good as you, myself, or rickey gadson... they are trying to give them a way to compete.

I am kinda disappointed about the length that they are allowing to the Nitrous bikes...

I know they are trying to level the playing field a bit but it just seems like they are playing favorites to the nitrous bikes because the turbo's dominated the class last year. Turbo's are the wave of the future and the people that spent the time to build a good turbo bike are now being punished..

Look at what happend in Real Street last year it took Gilbert some time to get his nitrous bike dialed in but when he did it was right there with Teasley now just imagine how fast Gilbert would have gone being 2" 's longer than he was. The end result might not have been the same....

A 180 pound rider on a Nitrous Busa can be 67" long with a Multistage clutch that can be a very dangerous against a turbo bike that is 4 or 5 inches shorter..

    I know that me on a 67" Busa with a multistage I can go high 1.20's 60'.

What is going to happen when the nitrous bikes dominate the turbo bikes due to the extra length? That is very possible!

It sounds like to me the thing to do is to take a big motor Busa and spray the living hell out of it with a 180lb. rider that can ride and it would be hard to beat!

Can one of you guys that helped with the rules explain this again? Why the wheelbase allowance for the nitrous bikes? Especially the 1000's that already sit further forward?

I am not quite sure what you are wondering about, so I will try to explain why we arrived at these numbers the best I can. In short, this class needs to be a solid 7.8 class at the top, maybe even a tad bit faster under great conditions. Nitrous bikes have been consistently 2-3 tenths slower than the turbos, so it seems obvious that they need help. If you look at the numbers in MIRock Pro Sportbike, which has a lot of similarities to this class, they have had the same thing happen. There is now no excuse why a nitrous bike can't run that kind of numbers.

Super Street should be the class where most of the serious nitrous racers strive to do well. Competitive Pro Street nitrous, if it ever happens, will be very exclusive and very expensive. And it is far more likely to happen if some new stuff is developed in Super Street, then taken to the next level (PST) after being proven in Super Street.

If you are asking why nitrous bikes are getting more wheelbase, the simple answer is, because they need it to compete. Even with the 54mm turbos in Super Street, a nitrous bike is still down at least 50-75hp to a turbo, with considerably less reliability. So why would they not deserve some other equalizing advantage? It has been proven in PSB, True Street, and Real Street that this is true, and extra wheelbase has been a very effective equalizer.

I am assuming that you are also asking why the 1000s get the same wheelbase as the big bores, so I will ask you this: Why should they not? Can you give real-world evidence that suggests the 1000s with nitrous should be penalized? After crunching a whole lot of data from 2 sanctioning bodies worth of run history, I can't see any reason why they should be any different. When we make decisions, we concern ourselves less with this combo coulda/shoulda/woulda, and instead base our decisions on what they actually do.

But if we want to play coulda/shoulda/woulda, how about this: Since a nitrous 1000 is going to most likely be 300-500cc smaller, and will have at least 75hp and 30lb-ft less than a nitrous big-bore, why does a 1000 not actually deserve MORE wheelbase than a big-bore?

And to answer another posters question, if the nitrous bikes go consistenly faster that the turbos, then we will let the turbos catch up. It will be very easy to let the turbos go faster since, after all, it is the performance numbers of the nitrous bikes currently holding back the rest of the class, and not the other way around.

I agree with what you are saying and in the SST class the HP is a big deal NOS vrs Turbo but just seemed like big changes from 2008-2009. But when you talk about the other classes such as RST I do not agree, it is not about horsepower with an OEM clutch!!!!!!!! It will be about 330's and with that big of an advantage that you get with wheelbase on a NOS 1000 will show. With an OEM clutch you dont have as much trouble off the line with HP you have it down the track when you are trying to get 400hp to stick, so it is equal down there, but if the guy gets you with the 4 inches of wheelbase you cant catch him, I could be wrong but time will tell. I am just glad to have a place to go race but dont compare RST having HP issues like SST.it is going to be a clutch issues so I think the wheelbase's should be the same.

I think this is all crazy. I think there is some catering going on. It wasnt lil nicks and tims fault that they found a set up that worked. Now everyone else has to suffer that has a turbo?

    ?
Where was the 2 10tenths at? 330,1/8, 1000ft? What did Gilbert weight like 190 and Teasley 105?? Hell the wheelbase break should only be for rider weights not bike displacement in RST, it is not a HP problem anymore. But as I said, I am glad the rules were changed and I hope they are changed again to better the sport. I just cant wait to see these guys run next year. I hope I just dont see tail lights every pass!!

Well thanks for the compliment Richard. I'm just disappointed because I really enjoy the rider input necessary to go fast in SuperStreet.

I just think too much of the rider element is being taken out with a multistage.

I'll just have to cope i guess!

u dont understand stacey. a turbo will not suffer!! this class, or no other class for that matter can just be DOMINATED by one bike type or team. that just cant happen for the well being of our sport. NITROUS bikes need help. there is no denying that. trust me, a turbo will still win this class and every other class except pro mod BECAUSE THEY ARENT ALLOWED!! i rode a turbo last year and i now realize how far superioir they are to nitrous bikes. i dont understand all the fuss. not necessarily YOU stacey, but from others. the fastest nitrous bike was 2-3 tenths off the pace last year, and the other NOS bikes were farther than that, the rest just gave up. we had a whopping 9 bikes at the last three races!! so what if there is some catering going on
