Re: Valdosta updates ?
How about take away aftermarket wheels (or at least 16" fronts and wider rears), STOCK front suspension rake and trail with NO offset trees. Stock STEEL tank weioghting the same as a stock bike's tank, Shift adn Brake controls operable with riders feet on the pegs, working low and high beam lights and turn signals, horn, sidedstand, speedometer, etc...you know,m a street legal bike that would pass some sort of modern safety inspection for street use....deffinately including brake and shift levers that can be operated while driving the bike. maybe the tanks and cut rail should be allowed since there are so many out there....
AMA tries to make it a safety issue (additional unsprung mass on front suspension). That is a joke. There are MANY other things that are unsafe on these bikes without worrying about front weight and they don;t seem to be worried with safety on them.

Re: Valdosta updates ?
If the forks were illegal, they were illegal. Shouldn't be too hard to see if they were altered....If they were in fact a different OEM that weighed 4lbs heavier per leg, then it is a grey area. If the rule is TRUELY that NO part can be replaced with heavier or parts added that make the fork heavier, then anyone using spacers inside the fork (or even adding an extra shim to the stack for damping), would be in violation.

Basic things, like reading, math, etc. Rules are written clearly enough on the topic. What a shame more time isn't spent on figuring out how to go faster within a set of rules. If the amount of time was given there that is given to trying to figure out how to "loophole" a rule, there would be alot heavier competition by alot more deserving participants.

Guys have to read the rule and understand the intent of the rule. The intent was to tell racers that there would be little tolerance for adding weight to forks (notice how much verbiage was included to drive home the point). Normal shortening is allowed. That will add weight, but you have to keep the intent in mind. I personally added less fluid back into my forks after adding spacers to lower them in order to keep the weight close to the same.

Re: Valdosta updates ?
One thing about mudslinging is that it makes a mess. I feel bad for Bud as he is the rider and not the builder. But all in all the rider should know about the machine they are riding in competition. Some could call it karma as far as Ronnie is concerned. Barry didn't you and Kent have heavy wheels on those hondas back in the day and then you later dimed out Kent? Washer fluid in the water tank? Nitrous pushing through the water tank? I mean how is any of this fair to those who race on the up and up and within the rules? The funny thing is those who have hands in forming the rules are the very ones that most often violate them. It's not right when guys load up, drag their equipment and spend money to play in a dirty sandbox. Like the old saying goes, "It's not cheating unless you get caught". Now what?

I hope Ronnie gets on here and sets the Record straight, one way or the other. We here on psychobike all to often are quick to point the finger at the next man. It is like we feed off a good scandal. Let's just wait and see what the outcome is instead of pointing the finger...
