AMA Dragbike would like to make a public statement
AMA Dragbike would like to make a public statement regarding tech procedures at the Pingel Thunder Nationals, and moving forward.
It is continually the goal of the AMA Dragbike Technical Department to provide a safe, fair racing environment for all competitors equally. There were several recognized mistakes made during tech procedures that will be rectified moving forward.
We sincerely apologize to any competitor who was affected by the mistakes.
A few reminders to all competitors and crew members:
1. It is the competitors responsibility to read and understand the Rule Book.
2. It is the competitors responsibility to make sure their motorcycle is legal within the rule book at all times. This includes safety tech and performance tech.
3. Non-performance violations, at the Tech Directors discretion, will be given a single written warning.
4. Performance violations and safety violations will be grounds for an immediate disqualification of the round in qualifying and eliminations.
5. No crew member is permitted beyond the Stop Signs preceding the Tech Inspection Area. Crew members of motorcycles that are not self-starting are exempt in order to assist rider to the Tech Inspection area. At that time the crew member must exit to the designated area.
6. The Tech Director has sole discretion in issuing written warnings and disqualifying a competitor.

AMA should never have to been put in a position like that...making a decision.....you guys were always ready to help racers with your tools and expertise....i lived that.....you let me borrow your tools and even assisted me to make sure i was ok...even helped me with the diaper question......BEFORE THE RACE STARTED......racers have an obligation...and those pushing the rules to the very limit should expect a hitch sometimes....close calls sometimes comes back and bite you.A racer has to live with their decision of riding the edge withot double checking.
