gsxr 1000 motor fit in a gsxr 750 frame

This is a discussion about gsxr 1000 motor fit in a gsxr 750 frame within the 1000's section, where you will 1 Liter Bike Talk for.... Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha; I have a 01 gsxr 750 frame and have a 01 gsxr motor, would I be able to but motor in that frame with no problem ?

    I have a 01 gsxr 750 frame and have a 01 gsxr motor, would I be able to but motor in that frame with no problem ?

    yep it will fit but the head bolts will be a little off have someone make you some type of plate to mount the front of the motor (4 bolts 2 on each side).

    motor will fit as stated
    but will also have to do some ecu/fuel controller work
    as the 1000 motor has different fuel curves

    Yes thats correct i did this mod several years ago and all i changed was the motor and ecu 01-02 model 1000 motor. if you use 03-06 you have to change the throttle bodies ,ecu,air box handle bar controls and wiring harness. The 01-02 1000 motor is almost plug and play less the ecu. if i forgot something someone else fell free to chime in :-).

    from a bike i upgraded to 07 head and electronics

    whats needed to upgrade to a newer head?
    would it give much difference in power?
    only asking as my 02 1k has started making a high pitch squeel from the top when the motor is under heavy load so im thinking its picked up on a bearing on one of the cams... and if that is damaged i doubt ill get away with just changing cams :(
