05 zx10r vs. 2011 zx10r!

What I would like to know quite frankly is the basics on where these 8 sec kinda stock new 10 is so much faster then the 05 10! literally im seeing 160hp on my 05, alot of dyno numbers are showing 166 to 186 on the new! im getting the diff being in the ecu being rewrote but what is the torque diff? no one ever posted stock numbers on the 05 like the 2011 and 2012, Its more than got me intriqued and thinking bout offing my 14 and my 10 for a new 10! Any info Im more than interested in seeing it!

Believe the hype...the new 10 is a beast!!! Just got a 2011 and i cant wait to set it up...its stock now...just a m4 slip on...163hp stock restricted...there is a green/red wireon the ecu you can ground it and it will unrestrict it...still need the flash for other stuff...ya from my research they are no joke!!!

yeah its just baffling that you got 163, i got 160 on my 05, but no one was posting the high 8's with basic mods, im def interested in a new one might have to test waters on sale of my bikes to get 1!

The biggest power helpers are the already high comp 13:0-1 in 2011+ to our 12:5-1 comp in 05 on top of the head design uses bigger cams, some what bigger ports and valves plus I believe but not 100% sure but I think the first gear issue was corrected in the 2011+ .
If you match the dimensions of the 2011 in the 05 you will be pretty much in the same ball park in power and time range. Don't get it twisted the new 10's are bad azz but with a lil money into the 05 you'll be in the same range.
I may be wrong so feel free to correct me.

Im pretty sure guys are making "close" to 200hp on the 2011 zx10 with exhaust,ecu flash and tuned with a power commander running MR12 fuel..The new zx10 is actually quicker than the new zx14 in the right hands!

Thats what im saying you can say stock bike at basically 200hp, man o man I love both my bikes and im glad its still a kawi but it just makes too much sence not to go that route!

dollar for dollar i think they are about the same. you can pick up a 04-05 cheap and mod the hell out of it and still run faster than the new ones. dont get me wrong i love the new 10 but i also like my one off 04.

before i tore mine down it went 5.37 at 131 with my 200lb ass on it. it had head cams and a 40 shot

Dont take it the wrong way but u got a real nice bike...coby head? 40 shot...long arm? Alot done to ur bike...tony ferland went 8.40s on extensions...foot shiftin...on his first pass with bolt on extension's ....no nos...just imagine what the new 10 will do with a coby head and arm and a 40 shot like your set up....and u got magnesium wheels....i dont think they compare

You sure? Cause according to what I have read it goes like this.
04/05 12:5-1
06/07. 12:6-1
08-10. 12:8-1
11-13. 13:0-1

Ok wasn't sure on valves but cams and ports are bigger and yes it has a higher rev limit.

Just got my 2011 with 2000 miles for 7500:)...all stock..just m4 slip on...cant wait to get her set up for the spring

torque similar, 47mm tb/s compared to 43mm, 13.0 comp. verses 12.7, 400 lift int. cam verses 05 358, gen 4 ex. cam larger than 05 int., all tit. valves, larger 29 mm buckets, offset rods for less ring friction, recontoured ports. basically a evolutionized hopped up gen 1. btw my gen 1 runs 8.80 flat all day at 157-158 full street trim on extensions with very basic mods and toney aint ridin it. gen 4 is a bad fast bike, absolutley no disrespect intended. would be my first choice in a new bike, but the 7-8 yr old gen 1 aint no slouch either, especially for the diff. in $$$.

oh trust me i am not saying there is not more potential, cause they are nasty and i have thought about one as well. i just like my completely custom gen one more :)
